Congregational  and Outreach Ministries ...

AA 11th Step Group
Though prayer and meditation to form a connection with God. An autonomous Group affiliated with the international AA organization and is open to the public.

Card Ministry
Cards are sent to members of the congregation experiencing illness or loss. 

Faith Community Nursing
Church nurses take blood pressures on Sunday mornings after worship services. They organize CPR and other healthcare training sessions. They assist the pastors with home visits. 

Health Care Closet
Medical equipment such as wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, tub seats, and other items are available for loan on request. 

HUGS
A support group sponsored by the American Cancer Society for women with gynecologic cancer. This group meets the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month at 7:00p.m. contact Sharon Bander at (757) 495-2423.

Judeo-Christian Center
Adult and youth volunteers cook and serve food to the homeless.

Lay visitation Program
Upon request a lay person will visit a congregation member in the hospital or at home.  

Meals on Wheels
CUMC is a partner with Meals on Wheels of Virginia Beach to deliver meals to shut-ins during the 4th week of each month. 

Missionaries
CUMC support missionaries and their ministries in Lithuania and Brazil.

Susanna's Clothes Closet
A program for gently used children's clothing, sizes 0-14. Church members are invited to contribute clothing and use what they need.
By appointment only.

Prayer Chain
The prayer chain is coordinated by the United Methodist Women and is available at all times for prayer request from our church family. Let us pray for you are someone you love  - contact the church office or send your prayer request to pray@communityumc.org

Shut-in Care
Homebound or confined congregation members are provided care and contact with the church though pastoral care and by lay persons who visit monthly to bring Communion to those who request it. 

Stephen Ministry

This committee welcomes new arrivals to our church family. 

Take Off Pounds Sensibly (TOPS)

Tape Ministry
Audio tapes of the worship services are taken to church members who are hospitalized or  who are not able to attend worship services due to health reasons. 

Visioning for God’s Destination
Community UMC has a Visioning Task Group working to discover the future direction of CUMC.  We want & need ideas & input as to what God is putting upon your heart & mind as to ‘What Kind of Church’ we will be in 5 plus years.  Please share through this address:

This is a Partner in Education program with Kempsville Elementary school for 1st and 2nd graders. Play time and snacks are provided along with one-on-one tutoring. 

Heifer Project International
